Our Angel Ryan

Catherine and I have heavy hearts today.  This is a post that I never even wanted to think about putting on the blog.  Ryan suffered a significant amount of brain injury during this trauma.  We have struggled the past couple of days as we have learned the extent of these injuries.

We expect that he will return to his Heavenly Father within the next day or two.  The Lord has blessed us with peace to know that Ryan has completed his work on this earth.  Now he is needed on the other side of the veil.

Words cannot express the appreciation that we have felt for all of those who have helped us through this difficult time.  Thank you to everyone who has assisted, offered assistance or just offered words of support.  Also a huge thank you to all of Ryan's angels in hospital scrubs who have taken care of him and bonded with him during this difficult time.  They have also buoyed our spirits and we have come to love and appreciate them.

  1. Immense amounts of love from the Toone family. I have prayed for Ryan and for your family, and now I will be praying for your comfort. I am so sorry for this trial you are facing. There are no right words but to say I cry and sorrow with you today. [friend of Amy and Thomas Simms]

  2. Mike and Catherine, Our hearts are breaking for your family. Catherine I so wanted to come see you and give you a hug before leaving the hospital today but I just wasn't strong enough to do it. Thank you for your message yesterday--I had no service in the hospital to reply. It's comforting to know we have a sweet Grandma Moon, Grandpa Stan and many others to take care of our boys. Love and prayers for you both, Becky and Kevin

  3. Lott Family,
We are so sorry. Our prayers go out to you. If there is anything we can do, please let us know. As I said before, we can feed, taxi kids, run errands, anything. I know you have lots of friends and loved ones, but we are here to talk too. We are just across the street. Please let us know. The Pessetto's

  6. Catherine, Mike and family,
We have monitored this blog many times a day, watching the pictures go by and praying to see good news. We cannot even think of words that could express our sorrow. Please know how much we love and respect you and your family. You are a great example of living a Christ-like life and are always ready to give help to all who need it. We wish we could have eased your pain especially considering all you have done for us. Our prayers are with you. Please know we are here for anything you need.

  7. I'm a friend of Ryan's, and i was just wondering if he is allowing visitors and if we are allowed to see him. I have contacted Primary Childrens and they said we have to get a hold of a family member. I would really love to see him.

  17. I was not prepared to get this news. I was ready to except him having physical and mental diffculties but this is hitting me way to hard. This last Tuesday things finally hit me when I missed his texts and phone calls asking for a ride to scouts or asking what we would be doing. Ryan will truely be missed.
Ryan, we love you!!! What an influence you have made in your short time here on earth. I'm so proud of the accomplishments I have seen you make in just a few short years and the person you stood for each day. Things will not be the same without you running around the neighborhood and showing up at the front door in your cowboys boots.
    Mike and Catherine,
I'm so sorry. We are so grateful to have you and your family just a few houses down. We would be happy to help in any way. Please feel like you can call on us at any time.

  20. Catherine and Mike,
My girls and I each morning anxiously await news on Ryan. Jerra was in the classroom just adjacent to his when all of this initally occurred, and despite not knowing Ryan well this has really affected her. She has told meseveral days this week, how now she is going to live each day as it was her last. Ryan has brought this out in her, and I am so grateful to him for that. Each day we have prayed for Ryan's recovery and were devestated to hear this news. I am hopeful that our prayers will add some strength and comfort to you and your famly at this diffiuclt time in your lives. As with everyone else, if there is anything we can do to help, please let us know.

  23. I just want to tell you how much we love your family and how blessed we are to have you in our lives. Ryan is such an incredible young man and he is so lucky to have such wonderful parents and family. My thoughts and prayers are constantly with you and I pray that you find continued comfort and peace. Please give my love to Catherine. I feel so helpless and really wish that there was something I could do. I want so desperately to talk to Catherine, but I completely understand that it needs to happen when she is ready. We were all in tears tonight.....Carson has very fond memories of playing basketball and video games with Ryan when our families would get together. My heart feels like it has literally sunk.....but I am uplifted by the thought that this is not the end. My love to you and Catherine and your beautiful family during this incredibly difficult time. I know I am far away....but PLEASE if you can think of ANYTHING that I can do that would help, do not hesitate to let me know!!!! Love to all of you, Carley

  27. Catherine, Mike and family, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It's been a long time since I have seen you or your family, but seeing the pictures of when Ryan was young reminded me of when I used to babysit your kids. I'm so thankful for temples and that families are forever. I know that you will all be together forever again. Your family has been in my prayers for the past couple of weeks, and I will continue to pray for you. I know that the Lord will bless and comfort you at this time.
