Happy New Year 2021

December 2020

Seeing the lights in Ogden

We decorated ginger bread house for FHE.  The only reason the boys will still do this is because I let them eat their houses and all the left over candy- works for me.

Christmas Eve

Dec 28, 2020
Happy b-day Mike.  Baby Yoda is standing in for Jaime.

Christmas jammies.  I got Alex a Broncos pair as well. (there was a good sale!!)

Alex and Adam have been enjoying going ice fishing.  One day they were out all day and this is all they got.  Thank goodness a few days before they got their limit.

The boys have turned our bonus room into their football stadium.  Great idea except for the fact that the entire house shakes as they tackle each other.  And on a not so good note, there is now a big hole in the wall that I get to fix.  Ugh!!  At least no broken bones- yet.  We have warned them to not be so rough with each other.

                             Updates from Hermana Lott

¡Hola todos! Adiós 2020, decir hola a 2021! Estoy muy emocionada por las oportunidades que tendré. This year is my blackout year. I was told by other missionaries that it is the year you miss everything at home (birthdays, holidays, etc.) BUT... it is a full year that I get to spend in SC serving the Lord and bringing people unto Him.

Last p-day we went to Charleston as a district. It was super fun! Two companionship were late, so Elder Pugsley & DeMille (aka Los Elderes) walked around with Hermana Berry and I. To kill the time, we went and got ice cream at a place called Kilwins. It was yummy and not cheap😅, but it was a treat yourself kind of thing. We all met at a shop that has the hottest hot sauce that you can sell legally (I think). It is called the N Sauce. You can try a free sample, so of course we did. It was hottt!🥵 My tongue was on fire, then my stomach hurt, then my roof of my mouth burned, and lastly my stomach hurt again. It couldn't decide where to inflict the pain. We went to the markets and browsed. I got a volcanic rock bracelet with rainbow road beads, and pineapple beads which represent the pineapple fountain. Rainbow Road is pretty cool. All the houses are painted a different color. As we were walking to our car a tour guide lady was like, "Are yall those mormons from Utah🤔🤨?" It was pretty funny because one of the elders is from Texas and another from L.A., but they got grouped in with the Utahns.

One day I come out of the bathroom to hear Hermana Berry say, "Our apartment is infested with ladybugs." We had two ladybugs🐞 on the ceiling. She told me to kill them, but I didn't want to because they are ladybugs🤷‍♀️. So, I caught them with a Sharpie and shook them off over our balcony. One of them was weird and didn't have spots.

We found a guy named Yahir this week, and had a lesson with him on Tuesday. Hermana Berry and I told him the five principles of the Doctrine of Christ: faith, repentance, baptism, gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. We focused on faith and shared a scripture about it. Then, Yahir asked if we were going to share more about repentance! So we did. We are going to drop off a Book of Mormon to him.

Hermana Berry and I, plus Los Elderes teach English class every Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm. It is a really nice finding tool. It is pretty funny because I am learning more Spanish while I am helping others learn English. It's kind of a win win situation.

On New Year's Eve, we went on exchanges. It was a three way exchange. The STL's trainees went together, Sister Bertolio went with Hermana Berry, and I went with Sister Edholm. We had two lessons that day. The first one was with a lady named Amanda. We were going to have her teach us what she remembered about the Restoration, but she didn't remember anything. We retaught her that. She committed to listening to the 1st chapter in the Book of Mormon. According to Sister Edholm, it was the best lesson that they've had with her. Next, we taught a lady named Renaee. She had read Mosiah 3 and really liked verse 5. We talked about it, and the member shared a story about how her dad was healed when he had a 0% chance of living. Renaee started to testify of the power of God's word while pointing at the Bible and the Book of Mormon! It was really cool to see. She is on date, so I am really excited to hear how it goes for her.

After these lessons, we had a New Years Eve party with the sisters in the zone. We made gingerbread trains (like how you make a house, but it's a train). It was actually really fun. We had apple cider, red velvet cake, chocolate, and more. I ate too much... you can't put chocolate in front of me and not expect me to eat it. When Sister Edholm and I got back to her apartment, there were some people shooting off fireworks in the parking lot. It was super loud. At one point it sounded like there was a battle going on.😂

On Friday night, Hermana Berry and I went to play sports with Elder Pugsley & DeMille, some of the people they're teaching, and Roger. Woo hoo fellowshiping! It was actually really fun. It reminded me that even though I exercise every morning, I'm still out of shape😂. We played basketball first, Gringos vs. Hispanics. We destroyed them! It also really helped that Elder DeMille played and Elder Pugsley is a giant. Then we played soccer (we split up the teams half and half). I think my team lost. All three of the Hispanics played soccer, so they had some pretty cool moves. One of them did a backflip and kicked the ball. It was awesome!

Hermana Berry and I went over to Johnny's for a lesson. Johnny invited his friend Jorge who is a great member (little miracle because we needed his help). The food wasn't ready yet, so we had our lesson first. It was about the 10 commandments, Word of Wisdom,  Prayer, Scripture Study, Baptism & Confirmation,  Following the Prophet, and Keeping the Sabbath Day holy. Turns out Johnny loves drinking coffee in the morning, so we committed him to keep all the commandments including the Word of Wisdom. For dinner we had some kind of meat with potatoes, and rice. We ate our whole plate and then Jorge told us the meat was Beef Stomach. Then Johnny gave us more. I was sooo full already, but I finished it. My stomach was full of stomach😂. I almost threw up because I was super full.

Two guys moved in or are moving in across the hall from us. Last night the ZLs came over to grab some of Hermana Berry's caramel. Someone knocked on our door and it looked like it was the ZLs, nope😂. It was Tequila. We were so shocked. They were waiting looking through their peep hole and Hermana Berry heard them. She waved and one of them came out. He was like, "oh it was a joke." Then we said, "We don't drink and we are also missionaries." His face: 🙂😮😳.

Well I hope you all have a fantastic week!
